What to Expect
When you arrive for your well woman exam in Arlington, we will provide you with a modest gown to change into. We will perform an exam of your neck and thyroid, breast, abdomen, and pelvic area including your cervix, ovaries, and uterus if they are still present. If we are performing a pap smear, we will take a swab to send to the lab. During the pelvic exam we will palpate your ovaries and uterus and feel for any abnormalities.

Frequently Asked Questions
You should schedule your first well woman exam when you become sexually active or when you turn 21. We recommend annual well woman exams after that.
Most insurance companies will pay for preventative healthcare, and well woman exams in Arlington fall under that category. If you are unsure what your insurance covers, we recommend speaking with your insurance provider to learn more details about your care.
Yes. Women’s health includes your uterus, breasts, vagina, hormones and much more. While your provider may not need to look out for abnormalities in your cervix, they will still need to conduct an annual exam to monitor and help maintain the other aspects of your gynecologic health.
Do not douche or use vaginal creams for 24 hours before your exam. We also ask that you refrain from having sexual intercourse for about 3 days beforehand. We suggest you write any questions you have for your provider before your appointment, as well as any symptoms you’ve been experiencing regarding pelvic or breast pain. This will help you make the most of your visit and receive the best care possible. You will not need to fast or do anything else to prepare for your exam. If we are doing labs, it is helpful if you come to your exam fasting.
