Botox® FAQs

Q: Does BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment hurt?

A: Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your provider may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, your provider may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

Q: How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

A: BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow's feet-the repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years. Your provider will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow's feet lines and frown lines between your brows.

Q: How long does the treatment take?

A: Your provider will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatments for you. The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes.

NovaSure FAQs

Q: What is NovaSure Endometrial Ablation?

A: NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation is a one-time, 5-minute procedure that gently removes the lining of the uterus'the part that causes the bleeding. The NovaSure procedure can reduce or stop bleeding altogether. It's a less invasive alternative to hysterectomy, and avoids the potential side effects of hormones.

Q: Is NovaSure Endometrial Ablation Procedure Right for Me?

A: Women with heavy or long-lasting periods who do not wish to have children in the future may be candidates for the NovaSure procedure. Your doctor can decide if the NovaSure procedure is right for you. But if you're sure you don't want any children in the future, and your doctor rules out more serious causes of heavy bleeding, you may be a good candidate for the NovaSure procedure.

Q: Can I Still Become Pregnant After the NovaSure Endrometrial Ablation Procedure?

A: Because NovaSure endometrial ablation treats the lining of the uterus, your chances of getting pregnant after the ablation procedure will be reduced. However, it is still possible to get pregnant if you're sexually active. A pregnancy after an ablation is very dangerous for both the mother and the fetus, since the uterine lining would not be able to properly support fetal development. It's very important to talk to your doctor about what birth control you will use after the NovaSure procedure.

BioTE®

Q: How often will I need pellets?

A: For women: usually every 3-4 months. For men: usually every 4-5 months.

Q: Why are pellets better than creams, patches, shots or pills?

A: They are pure hormone that is not metabolized into byproducts by going through the liver, stomach or skin. This delivery system allows your body to use the right amount of hormone from the pellet as the blood flow surrounding the pellets picks up what is needed.

Q: Where do the pellets go?

A: Because they are pure hormone without fillers or synthetic ingredients, they completely dissolve.

Q: How long will it take for my body to get back to lean normal?

A: That depends on how much you exercise and work out with weights, as well as your age. Testosterone decreases fat and increases muscle and lean body mass. Testosterone also increases your natural growth hormone and therefore will improve your stamina to work out and increase muscle mass.

Q: I have no libido - what will this do for that, if anything?

A: Good hormone balance will greatly improve your libido. The addition of testosterone in pellet form will change everything for the better!

Specifically For Women

Q: I get horrible headaches - will they help me?

A: Yes! We have had great success, especially with women who have menstrual migraines, and new migraines that appear after age 35.

Q: Do I need other medications?

A: If you still have a uterus, you will need to be on natural progesterone as well.

Q: Why do I need estrogen?

A: Estrogen is the most important hormone for a woman. It protects her against heart attack, stroke, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's. It also keeps us looking young and healthy.

Q: Why do I need testosterone?

A: Testosterone is the third female hormone and is as essential as estrogen and progesterone. We need this hormone to keep our thought process quick and our libido healthy. It improves bone density, muscle mass, strength and prevents some types of depression. It is also the source of energy and solid sleep!

Q: Will I grow unwanted hair from testosterone?

A: There is less chance of excess hair growth with natural testosterone than with synthetic hormones. Facial hair will grow with testosterone pellets, but normally no more than when you were in your thirties.

Specifically For Men

Q: How do I take testosterone pellets and not convert them to Dihydrotestosterone and estrone?

A: Your blood levels of estrone and DHT are checked after treatment to see if they are elevated. Some men still convert to these metabolites even on testosterone pellets. If they are converting, we troubleshoot with natural supplements such as DIM and Saw Palmetto, or an aromatase inhibitor prescription.

Q: What if I have prostate enlargement already?

A: Testosterone pellets will make it better, if you do not convert it to DHT; we will treat that if it happens.

Q: Will my testicles shrink while I take the testosterone pellets?

A: Yes, they will. Testicles are suppressed by taking any kind of testosterone and they will not make as much testosterone while the pellets are working. This is not permanent and the testicle retains its ability to produce testosterone.
