Cryoablation
Are you, or do you know someone
suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding?
Symptoms of this include:
- Soaking through 3 or more pads or tampons per day
- Heavy periods that last 7 or more days, or come more often than once a month
- Clotting with menses
- Avoiding certain clothes during "that time"
- Missing work
- Paleness or fatigue (anemia)
- Avoiding trips for fear of soaking through
We now offer Her Option Uterine Cryoablation. This is an office procedure which can reduce or eliminate your period FOREVER. Guided
by ultrasound, a probe is placed in the vagina and through the cervix
to reach the uterus. The uterine lining is then frozen. The treatment
takes 20 minutes. Generally, no work is missed beyond the day of
the cryoablation. The procedure is covered by most insurance
plans. Patients are given medication prior to the procedure to
reduce discomfort.
Uterine cryoablation may be an option for you as long as you:
- Do not intend to have more children
- Do not have cervical or uterine cancer
